L’auteur de la saga d’Harry Potter est dans la tourmente depuis la publication d’un tweet jugé «transphobe» par des militants. Des féministes prennent sa défense et alertent sur les pressions exercées par les groupes d’activistes trans. J.K. Rowling, l’autrice de Harry Potter, s’est attiré les foudres d’activistes trans, après avoir posté une série de tweets où elle exprimait un point de vue ironique sur la différence des sexes. Nous féministes souhaitons alerter le grand public sur la situation de la communauté lesbienne en France et à l’international. Pour commencer nous souhaiterions rappeler que les lesbiennes ne sont pas les seules à vivre dans la peur de l’activisme trans extrême.

Scottish Government Faces Court Action for Redefining “Woman” to Include Men

A letter has been sent to the government by lawyers acting on behalf of For Women Scotland expressing significant concerns that a law intended to address historical under-representation of women on public boards is fundamentally flawed and that the Scottish Government has exceeded its authority in redefining “woman”. This follows the publication of Statutory Guidance on 29 May 2020. For Women Scotland is a national women’s rights group funded entirely by supporters. A legal opinion has been provided by Aidan O’Neill, QC. Outlining the possibility of a court challenge, For Women Scotland warns that it may decide to take the matter further by seeking a Judicial Review.

Draft rules in public, law for transgender rights closer to implementation

NEW DELHI: Over six months months after it came into effect on January 10, the law aimed at securing rights and mainstreaming of transgender persons is getting closer to implementation. With the final draft rules to implement the law published in the gazette for feedback till August 13, the proposed roadmap, on what the future holds, makes it clear that an affidavit declaring gender identity from the applicant as a self – identification will form the basis for an identity certificate from the district magistrate. The rules reaffirm there will be no medical examination for establishing the identity.

Man Elected to Female Leadership Seat That was Created to Ensure Female Participation in Politics

A petition posted by women’s rights advocates requesting removal of a man recently elected as Female District Leader for New York City’s 37A district has been expunged from Care2 Petitions by website staff. Emilia Decaudin, a man who self-identifies as ‘non-binary’ gendered, won a Female District Leader seat in Queens with 52.56% of counted votes. The 20-year-old from Westchester County, New York is the youngest and first openly transgender-identifying member of The State Democratic Committee. Deirdre A. Feerick, his experienced female competitor who had received the endorsement of the Queens Democratic Party, took 46.97% of counted votes. Like many nations and territories, New York State once had a sex-parity rule to guarantee women a voice in politics. Suffragists demanding voting rights had been arrested during a 1917 march at the White House, and were subjected to clubbings, beatings and miscellaneous torture. This “Night of Torture” galvanized public support for women’s suffrage.

Allison Bailey: “I am suing Stonewall to stop them policing free speech”

My name is Allison Bailey. I am a criminal defence barrister, a feminist, a lesbian, a lifelong campaigner for racial equality, lesbian, gay, and bisexual rights, and a survivor of child sexual abuse. With other LGB rights campaigners, I helped to set up the LGB Alliance. In retribution for this, Stonewall Diversity Limited (Stonewall), co-ordinated with the barristers’ chambers of which I am a member to put me under investigation. This was an attempt by Stonewall to intimidate and silence me and others critical of what we see as its malign influence in British life: workplaces, schools, universities, the police, the judiciary, the Crown Prosecution Service, and all government departments.

UK government shelves plans to allow self-ID: WHRC statement

WHRC welcomes the news, reported in the Sunday Times on 14 June 2020, that the UK govt has shelved plans to reform the GRA to allow self-ID of sex. We ask that it continue to listen to grass-roots women’s organisations as it reaffirms its commitment to single sex spaces as set out in the 2010 Equality Act and investigates the role of heavily funded lobbying organisations such as Stonewall in contributing to the unauthorised replacement of the protected characteristic of sex with “gender identity” throughout public life.
